Is The Internet Taking Away Our Need to Learn?

Internet. The Information Age. With so much information available to attain, with just a simple click away from getting it how much are you getting? Not much according to surveys and experts. 80-90 percent of the time the internet is used for entertainment purposes, I mean you don’t even have to learn anything anymore you can Google it. Don’t even spell it right it doesn’t matter, it will spell it for you. Wouldn’t want me to work hard or anything now would you?
I get to sit back and be entertained, because that’s what I like to do, it’s what I strive for. To be honest ,I don’t believe I could find my way home if I didn’t navigate there. I would be lost if I couldn’t social network with my tons of friends everyday. I mean how would I survive if I didn’t know what they ate for breakfast, who’s dating who, what their doing today or read the latest, divine, poetry from the undiscovered masters. You want me to go thru life without this? As if. It’s already hard enough having a normal conversation without lol, lmao or omg included.
I need to be entertained mindlessly and the internet provides that instantaneously for me. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t download or click at least once a day. I think I would go insane. Besides I learn stuff, you know really important stuff like what the stars are doing, what the weathers like, what’s on sale at my favorite store, you know important stuff.
How else would I know it was raining outside today? Oh I guess I could do what old-timers did before the internet. I could listen with my ears, feel the raindrops with my hands, or use my eyes and see them, but what’s the point in that? I get lightning fast streaming downloads that let me know everything I need to know.Who needs five senses when I have ten fingers, two hands, a mouse and keyboard, screen and a dream?
Oh sure maybe I’ve gained some weight because I don’t physically do anything anymore, but I’ve seen what exercise looks like, matter of fact here I’ll look it up. See? That looks to strenuous for me, I mean that’s as painful to watch as someone reading a book to learn something. Don’t they know you can get the answer so much faster by typing it in? This is the “Information age” after all.
Really I learn alot thru my cyberspace travels, I do. I know who’s dating who, who’s really popular, and I could even find out about you if I wanted to. Got a secret? Well it’s not secret anymore thanks to the Internet. Like to party? I’ll find out. Got in trouble when you were a teenager? I’ll find that out to. Anything I want to find out about you I can, and will so don’t push me.
In conclusion I learn, but why should I want to?
